BMW’s Concept X7 iPerformance, unveiled at the IAA Cars 2017 show in Frankfurt, adds an intriguing mobile dimension to the concept of the “Third Space.” Related concepts as locality, landscape, and environment take on new meaning in the context of motion.
While the exterior features are both elegant and forward-looking, it’s the interior experience that dominates this study vehicle. The cabin’s massive volume lends a sense of open space—a setting that is as much retreat as platform for transportation.
Like BMW’s i Inside Future, the Concept X7 also anticipates an autonomous prospect, which will ultimately redefine the idea of form following function. But we don’t have to look too far ahead, as a production model is set to make its debut in 2018.
